The darkness is meticulously worked.
Its accumulated strokes remain visible, making obscurity visibly labor-intensive.
Against this density, the eyes hover.
They are too disembodied to provide identity.
Blackness becomes less an absence than a privacy screen.
The work’s severity is an ethic of refusal. It does not expose its subject; it preserves the subject’s right to remain mostly missing.
